Daniel Richard Green Jr. is an American former professional basketball player known for his significant contributions in the National Basketball Association. He played for six teams during his NBA career and is one of only four players in history to have won NBA championships with three different teams. Green secured titles with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014, the Toronto Raptors in 2019, and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. He played college basketball at the University of North Carolina from 2005 to 2009, where he participated in more games and achieved more wins than any other Tar Heel before him. In his senior year, Green was part of the team that won the NCAA championship. Selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 46th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, Green was waived by the Cavaliers and subsequently played for the Spurs, the NBA Developmental League team Reno Bighorns, and KK Olimpija in Slovenia. He became a starting guard for the Spurs during the 2011–2012 season and remained with them until 2018. Green set an NBA Finals record for most three-point field goals made in a series with 23 during the 2013 NBA Finals. He was recognized for his perimeter defense, earning a selection to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in the 2016–17 season. His career also included stints with the Philadelphia 76ers and Memphis Grizzlies.
