Scott Mason: podcast appearances and interviews

Scott Mason is an American author, reporter, and host based in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is known for hosting the Southeast Emmy award-winning program Tarheel Traveler since 2007 and has authored several books, including Tar Heel Traveler Eats: Food Journeys across North Carolina and Tar Heel Traveler: Journeys across North Carolina. Mason's career in broadcast journalism began with roles at various television stations, including WXII-TV in Winston-Salem, WTVC-TV in Chattanooga, and WHIO-TV in Dayton. He served as news director at WCVE-TV in Richmond, Virginia, from 1988 to 1990, where his Virginia Currents documentary series received over 100 awards for journalistic excellence, drawing the attention of WRAL-TV in Raleigh. Mason joined WRAL in April 1997 initially as a Documentary Producer, where he researched, wrote, and produced nine documentaries before becoming part of the nightly news team as a feature reporter. He attended Washington and Lee University, graduating in 1984 with a major in Journalism and Communications, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in creative writing at Queens University of Charlotte. Mason is also known for being a former attorney, a speaker, and a truth-teller. He resides in Raleigh with his wife Nina, daughters Lane and Genie, and son Scout.
