Rupert James Hector Everett, born on 29 May 1959, is an English actor known for his performances in film and theatre. He gained initial public recognition in 1981 when he was cast in Julian Mitchell's play and the subsequent film Another Country (1984), portraying a gay pupil at an English public school in the 1930s. His portrayal in this role earned him his first BAFTA Award nomination.
