Rajani LaRocca: podcast appearances and interviews

Rajani LaRocca is an Indian-American author of children's literature and a primary-care physician. Her writing focuses on middle grade fiction that explores Indian-American identity and medical themes. She has received recognition for her work, including a 2022 Newbery Honor for her novel Red, White and Whole. LaRocca's interest in creative writing was present during her high school and college years; however, she paused her writing pursuits when she began attending medical school. She resumed writing in 2011 and signed with TriadaUS Literary Agency in 2017. Born in Bangalore and of Tamil descent, she grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and attended Louisville Collegiate School. She later moved to Boston for her college education and is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School. As of 2022, she resides in Concord, Massachusetts, with her family. LaRocca has authored several books that have been recognized as Junior Library Guild selections, including Much Ado about Baseball, Red, White, and Whole, Summer Is for Cousins, and Sona and the Golden Beasts.
