Peter Barrington Hutton (August 24, 1944 – June 25, 2016) was an American experimental filmmaker recognized for his silent cinematic portraits of cities and landscapes worldwide. His work primarily focused on capturing the essence of urban and natural environments through a distinctive visual style. In addition to his filmmaking, Hutton worked as a professional cinematographer. He notably contributed to projects for his former student Ken Burns and provided cinematography for Lizzie Borden's film Born in Flames. His portfolio also includes work for Phil Hartman's No Picnic, as well as cinematography for projects by artist Red Grooms and the film The Gates directed by Albert Maysles. Hutton's diverse career spanned both visual arts and filmmaking, and his contributions to experimental cinema and cinematography have been widely recognized. He held the role of Head of NAV Financing at Arcmont Asset Management.
