Peter Brian Gabriel is an English singer-songwriter, musician, and human rights activist known for his successful solo career and his eight-year tenure as the lead vocalist of Genesis. During his time with Genesis, he contributed as the lead vocalist and principal lyricist, participating in several albums regarded as progressive rock classics. Gabriel’s theatrical stage performances and costumes contributed to his distinct artistic style. After leaving Genesis in 1975, he pursued a solo career marked by innovative releases spanning progressive rock, new wave, post-punk, and world music. His notable albums include the chart-topping So, released in 1986, which is considered one of the best albums of the 1980s and features the record-breaking single Sledgehammer.
