About Pema Chödrön
Pema Chödrön is an American-born Tibetan Buddhist nun and author. She was born Deirdre Blomfield-Brown on July 14, 1936. Chödrön is an ordained nun and a disciple of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. She has served as a principal teacher at Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia and was an acharya of Shambhala Buddhism. Throughout her career, she has written several dozen books and audiobooks focused on Buddhist teachings and meditation. Chödrön is recognized for her contributions to making Buddhist philosophy accessible to a broad audience. She retired from her teaching role in 2020.
