Paul Roos: podcast appearances and interviews

Paul Roos, born on 27 June 1963, is a former Australian rules football coach and player. He played for Fitzroy and Sydney during the 1980s and 1990s, and was recognized as one of the finest players of his era. A versatile key-position player, Roos was known for his strong marking ability and proficiency at ground level. In his career, he was named at centre half back in Fitzroy's Team of the Century and received numerous accolades including seven All-Australian selections, the league's Most Valuable Player award, and 14 appearances for Victoria in State of Origin. He holds the AFL/VFL record for the most games played wearing the number 1 jumper, which he worn throughout his 356-game career with Fitzroy Lions and the Sydney Swans. Roos was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2005. As a player, he was rarely reported, with only one incident for abusive language, for which he was found not guilty. Transitioning into coaching, Roos led the Sydney Swans from 2002 to 2010, guiding the team to a Premiership in 2005 after finishing the regular season in third place. This victory marked the Swans' first Premiership since the club's relocation from South Melbourne 72 years earlier. He later served as the senior coach of the Melbourne Football Club from 2014 to 2016. His career is distinguished by both his playing achievements and his successful coaching record at the AFL level.
