Parker Christian Posey, born on November 8, 1968, is an American actress recognized for her portrayal of eccentric characters in independent films. In 1997, Time magazine referred to her as the Queen of the Indies. She has received nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Independent Spirit Awards. Her film career includes appearances in movies such as Dazed and Confused, Party Girl, Kicking and Screaming, The Daytrippers, The House of Yes, Clockwatchers, Henry Fool, You've Got Mail, Scream 3, Josie and the Pussycats, Blade: Trinity, Superman Returns, Broken English, Irrational Man, Café Society, Columbus, and Beau Is Afraid. Posey has collaborated with Christopher Guest on several mockumentary films, including Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, and Mascots. On television, she starred in the Netflix science fiction series Lost in Space from 2018 to 2021, appeared in the HBO Max miniseries The Staircase in 2022, and is set to feature in the third season of the HBO anthology series The White Lotus in 2025. In addition to her acting career, Posey authored a memoir titled You’re on an Airplane: A Self-Mythologizing Memoir, published in 2018.
