About Nicholas Kristof
Nicholas Donabet Kristof is an American journalist and political commentator known for his work as a columnist for The New York Times. Born in Chicago on April 27, 1959, he was raised in Yamhill, Oregon, by parents who were professors at Portland State University. Kristof graduated from Harvard University, where he was involved with The Harvard Crimson, and has worked intermittently as an intern at The Oregonian. He began working for The New York Times in 1984. As a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, Kristof has been recognized for his journalism that emphasizes human rights abuses and social injustices. His reporting has covered issues such as human trafficking and conflicts in Africa, notably the Darfur crisis. Kristof describes himself as a progressive and has been credited with transforming opinion journalism through his focus on neglected global conflicts.
