Miriam Toews: podcast appearances and interviews

Miriam Toews is a Canadian writer and author born on May 21, 1964. She has published ten books, including A Complicated Kindness, All My Puny Sorrows, and Women Talking. Toews has received numerous literary awards, such as the Governor General's Award for Fiction and the Writers' Trust Engel/Findley Award, recognizing her contributions to literature. She has also been a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize three times and has won the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize twice. In addition to her literary career, Toews appeared in the feature film Silent Light, directed by Mexican filmmaker Carlos Reygadas, which won the 2007 Cannes Jury Prize. Her experience in this film influenced her fifth novel, Irma Voth. She authored a memoir titled A Truce That Is Not Peace, which was a finalist for the 2025 National Book Critics Circle Award for Autobiography. Based in Toronto, Toews also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Arts & Science.
