Sir Michael Philip Jagger, born on 26 July 1943, is an English musician, songwriter, and film producer best known as the lead singer and founding member of the Rolling Stones. He has co-written most of the band's songs with lead guitarist Keith Richards, forming one of the most successful songwriting partnerships in rock history. Jagger's career spans more than six decades, during which he has become regarded as one of the most influential front men in rock music. His distinctive voice and energetic live performances, combined with Richards's guitar style, have become signature elements of the Rolling Stones' sound. Early in his career, he gained notoriety for his romantic involvements and illicit drug use, often being portrayed as a countercultural figure. Born and raised in Dartford, Jagger studied at the London School of Economics before leaving to focus on his music career. In addition to his work with the band, he starred in films such as Performance and Ned Kelly in 1970. Beginning in the 1980s, Jagger released solo works including four albums and the hit single Dancing in the Street with David Bowie. He co-founded Jagged Films in the 2000s, producing feature films starting with Enigma in 2001. He was also a member of the supergroup SuperHeavy from 2009 to 2011.
