Markwayne Mullin: podcast appearances and interviews

Markwayne Mullin, born on July 26, 1977, is an American politician and businessman who has served as the ninth United States secretary of homeland security since 2026. A member of the Republican Party, Mullin previously served as the junior United States senator from Oklahoma from 2023 to 2026 and as the U.S. representative for Oklahoma's second congressional district from 2013 to 2023. He is a member of the Cherokee Nation and took over his family's plumbing business in 1998. Mullin was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 after winning the election for Oklahoma's second congressional district, defeating Democratic candidate Rob Wallace. He was reelected in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020. In February 2022, following the announced resignation of Oklahoma senator Jim Inhofe, Mullin ran in the special election to succeed him. He won the Republican primary and subsequent runoff against T. W. Shannon, then defeated Democratic nominee Kendra Horn in the general election, becoming the first tribal citizen to serve in the U.S. Senate since 2005. In March 2026, President Donald Trump appointed Mullin as the secretary of homeland security after confirming his nomination following the firing of Kristi Noem. Mullin’s appointment marked the first time a member of the Cherokee Nation served in the U.S. Cabinet.
