Marianne Faithfull was an English singer-songwriter and actress born in Hampstead, London, on December 29, 1946. She gained widespread recognition in the 1960s with her UK top 10 single As Tears Go By and became one of the prominent female artists during the British Invasion in the United States. Faithfull's career began in 1964 after she was discovered by Andrew Loog Oldham, the manager of the Rolling Stones, at a party. Her self-titled debut album released in 1965 achieved significant success, complemented by her folk-inspired sophomore album Come My Way, both issued on Decca Records. From 1966 to 1970, she was publicly known for her romantic relationship with Mick Jagger and expanded her career through roles in films such as I'll Never Forget What's'isname, The Girl on a Motorcycle, and Hamlet. In the 1970s, personal struggles including anorexia, homelessness, and heroin addiction affected her life and career.
