Benjamin Géza Affleck is an American actor and filmmaker known for his accomplishments in film and his advocacy work. His career began as a child actor, appearing in the PBS educational series The Voyage of the Mimi from 1984 to 1988. He gained recognition for his work in independent and comedic films, such as Dazed and Confused and several Kevin Smith comedies. Affleck achieved wider fame after winning the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for co-writing and starring in Good Will Hunting. As a leading man, he appeared in a variety of studio films, including Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, and The Sum of All Fears. After experiencing a career downturn, he made a notable comeback with portrayals like George Reeves in Hollywoodland, for which he received the Volpi Cup for Best Actor.
