Lando Norris is a British racing driver competing in Formula One for McLaren. Born on 13 November 1999 in Bristol and raised near Glastonbury, Norris began competitive kart racing at the age of eight. He achieved notable success in karting, including winning the senior World Championship in 2014. Transitioning to junior formulae, he secured his first title at the 2015 MSA Formula Championship with Carlin and went on to win the Toyota Racing Series, Formula Renault Eurocup, and Formula Renault NEC in 2016. That year, he received the Autosport BRDC Award. In 2017, Norris won the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, and in 2018, he finished as runner-up to George Russell in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, both with Carlin. Norris joined McLaren's Young Driver Programme in 2017 and made his Formula One debut at the Australian Grand Prix in 2019. He achieved his first podium, fastest lap, and a pole position in subsequent seasons, culminating in his maiden race win at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. His performance in 2025 included seven victories, allowing him to secure his first World Drivers' Championship, finishing ahead of Max Verstappen and teammate Oscar Piastri. As of the 2026 British Grand Prix, Norris has accumulated 11 race wins, 16 pole positions, and 19 fastest laps, with 46 podium finishes. He remains under contract with McLaren until the end of the 2027 season and was recognized as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2026.
