Josh James Brolin is an American actor known for his performances in film and for his work as an author. Born on February 12, 1968, he is the son of actor James Brolin. Brolin gained early recognition for his role in the adventure film The Goonies in 1985 and experienced a career resurgence with his starring role in the crime film No Country for Old Men in 2007. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Dan White in the biopic Milk in 2008. Over the years, Brolin's filmography expanded to include roles in W., True Grit, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Men in Black 3, Oldboy, Inherent Vice, Everest, and Hail, Caesar! His wider recognition grew through his portrayal of Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Brolin also played Cable in Deadpool 2. His collaborations with filmmaker Denis Villeneuve include the films Sicario, Dune, Dune: Part Two, and Dune: Part Three, in which he portrays Gurney Halleck. In 2019, Brolin founded Brolin Productions, a production company, and released the film Brothers in October 2024.
