Emma Stone, born Emily Jean Stone on November 6, 1988, is an American actress and film producer. She began her acting career in local theater productions in Arizona before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue opportunities in film. Stone made her television debut in 2004 on the reality show In Search of the New Partridge Family. She gained recognition through roles in successful comedy films including Superbad, Zombieland, and Easy A, the latter marking her first leading role. Her career expanded with performances in romantic comedies such as Crazy, Stupid, Love and the period drama The Help. She also starred as Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man films from 2012 to 2014. Stone transitioned into more eclectic and dramatic roles, earning multiple nominations including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Birdman and for Best Actress for The Favourite. She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress, first for La La Land in 2016 and later for Poor Things in 2023, the latter also earning her a nomination for Best Picture. Her performances in Battle of the Sexes and Cruella further established her versatility. Stone has collaborated with director Yorgos Lanthimos on films such as The Favourite, Kinds of Kindness, and Bugonia, the latter earning her nominations as both an actress and producer, making her the first woman to achieve this.
