About Jony Ive

Sir Jonathan Paul Ive is a British-American designer best known for his work at Apple Inc. where he served as senior vice-president of industrial design and chief design officer. During his tenure at Apple from 1992 until his departure in 2019, Ive played a significant role in designing a range of products including the iMac, Power Mac G4 Cube, iPod, iPhone, iPad, and the user interface of iOS. He was also involved in major architectural projects such as Apple's Cupertino headquarters complex known as Apple Park and the company's retail stores. Ive’s collaboration with Steve Jobs was instrumental in shaping Apple's aesthetic and technological innovations. He founded LoveFrom, a creative collective that works with global brands such as Ferrari, Airbnb, and OpenAI. Born in London, Ive moved to Stafford at around age 12 and studied design at Newcastle Polytechnic. His early career included work with the London-based design firm Tangerine, where he contributed to projects for LG, Ideal Standard, and Apple. Ive acquired U.S. citizenship in 2012 and has received numerous honors, including being appointed a Royal Designer for Industry, an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Since 2017, he has been serving as the head of the Royal College of Art, and he has been a trustee of the British Museum since June 2025.
