John Francis Bongiovi Jr., known professionally as Jon Bon Jovi, is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor born on March 2, 1962. He is best recognized as the founder and frontman of the rock band Bon Jovi, which was established in 1983. Throughout his career with the band, he has released sixteen studio albums. In addition to his work with the band, Bon Jovi has released two solo albums. During the 1990s, he expanded his career into acting, starring in films such as Moonlight and Valentino, The Leading Man, Little City, Homegrown, Pay It Forward, U-571, and Cry Wolf. He has also made appearances on television in shows including Sex and the City, 30 Rock, Ally McBeal, and The West Wing. Bon Jovi's contributions to music have been recognized through his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.
