John Fetterman: podcast appearances and interviews

John Karl Fetterman, born on August 15, 1969, is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Pennsylvania since 2023. He is a member of the Democratic Party and previously served as the 34th lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania from 2019 to 2023. Fetterman also served as the mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania, from 2006 to 2019. His educational background includes studying finance at Albright College, earning an MBA from the University of Connecticut, and an MPP from Harvard University. Fetterman's professional career began in the insurance industry before he joined AmeriCorps, where his service led him to Braddock. He was elected mayor of the town in 2005, a position through which he aimed to revitalize the community with art and youth programs. In 2016, he ran for the U.S. Senate but finished third in the Democratic primary. The following year, he was elected lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania, defeating incumbent Mike Stack in the primary and winning the general election alongside Governor Tom Wolf. During his tenure, Fetterman gained national attention for efforts to legalize cannabis statewide and for his opposition to false claims of election fraud in Pennsylvania made by President Donald Trump. In 2021, he announced his candidacy for the 2022 U.S. Senate election in Pennsylvania; he secured the Democratic nomination and defeated Republican Mehmet Oz in the general election with 51% of the vote. He became Pennsylvania's senior senator after the defeat of Bob Casey Jr. in 2025.
