Joe Wright: podcast appearances and interviews

Joseph Wright is an English filmmaker born on 25 August 1972. He began his career directing music videos and television series before making his feature film debut with Pride & Prejudice in 2005, which was based on the novel by Jane Austen. Wright has since directed a range of films including period drama adaptations such as Atonement in 2007, Anna Karenina in 2012, and Cyrano in 2021. His other notable works include the action thriller Hanna in 2011, the Peter Pan origin story Pan in 2015, and the Winston Churchill biopic Darkest Hour in 2017. In 2025, he directed the historical drama television series Mussolini: Son of the Century. Wright's work has received critical recognition, including six BAFTA Film Award nominations and a win for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for Pride & Prejudice. He also earned a BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama Series for the serial Charles II: The Power and the Passion in 2003 and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Director for Atonement.
