Tony Goldwyn is an American actor and director born on May 20, 1960. He made his acting debut in the slasher film Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives in 1986. His breakthrough role came with the character Carl Bruner in the fantasy thriller Ghost, released in 1990, which earned him a Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Goldwyn also portrayed Harold Nixon in the biographical film Nixon in 1995, a performance that garnered him a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. Additionally, he played Neil Armstrong in the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon in 1998. Goldwyn provided the voice of the titular character in Disney's animated film Tarzan in 1999. His film appearances include roles such as Colonel Bagley in The Last Samurai (2003), Johnathon Collingwood in The Last House on the Left (2009), and Paul Cohen in King Richard (2021), a role that earned him a second SAG Award nomination. He is also known for his portrayal of President Fitzgerald Grant III on the television series Scandal from 2012 to 2018, during which he also directed several episodes and received a Peabody Award.
