Jigar Shah is an American entrepreneur and clean energy advocate who served as the director of the Loan Programs Office at the U.S. Department of Energy from March 2021 to January 2025. During his tenure, he oversaw a significant expansion of the office's lending authority, which increased from approximately 40 billion dollars to 400 billion dollars following the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in 2021 and the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022. This period marked a substantial growth in the Biden administration's clean energy initiatives and the promotion of emerging clean energy technologies. Prior to his governmental service, Shah had a career as a clean energy entrepreneur, author, and podcast host.
