Jerral Wayne Jones Sr. born on October 13, 1942, is an American businessman and sports owner who is known for his role with the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He purchased the team in 1989 from Bum Bright for 140 million dollars. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Jones moved during his childhood to North Little Rock, Arkansas, where his parents owned a grocery store. He was a running back at North Little Rock High School and graduated in 1960. After his family relocated to Springfield, Missouri, his father led a successful insurance company, where Jones later served as an executive vice president. Following the sale of the insurance business, the Jones family established Buena Vista Animal Paradise. Jones attended the University of Arkansas, where he co-captained the 1964 national championship football team. His ownership of the Dallas Cowboys has been marked by significant success, including three Super Bowl victories. His leadership elevated the franchise's value to approximately 10 billion dollars. Jones is recognized for his role in securing major television deals that benefited the NFL financially. His tenure has also involved controversial decisions, such as firing beloved personnel and influencing team relocations.
