Jason Jordan Segel, born January 18, 1980, is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He gained recognition for his role as Marshall Eriksen on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, which aired from 2005 to 2014. Segel began his career working with director and producer Judd Apatow on the television series Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. He subsequently starred in, wrote, and produced a number of successful comedy films including Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You, Man, Bad Teacher, The Five-Year Engagement, This Is 40, and Sex Tape.
