Jared Schutz Polis is an American politician, entrepreneur, businessman, and philanthropist serving as the 43rd governor of Colorado since 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has a notable history of public service, including serving on the Colorado State Board of Education from 2001 to 2007 and representing Colorado's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 to 2019. Polis was first elected to Congress in 2008 and is recognized for being the first openly gay man elected to Congress as a non-incumbent.
