Lauren Opal Boebert is an American politician, businesswoman, and gun rights activist who has served as the U.S. representative for Colorado's 4th congressional district since 2025. She previously represented Colorado's 3rd congressional district from 2021 to 2025. Boebert owned Shooters Grill, a restaurant in Rifle, Colorado, from 2013 to 2022, where staff members were encouraged to openly carry firearms. As a member of the Republican Party, she is known for her advocacy of gun rights and her association with conservative groups such as the Republican Study Committee, the Freedom Caucus, and the Second Amendment Caucus, where she has served as communications chair since January 2022. Boebert gained prominence after defeating incumbent Scott Tipton in the 2020 Republican primary in Colorado's 3rd district and subsequently winning the general election. She was reelected in 2022 by a narrow margin and switched to run in Colorado's 4th district for her third term in 2024. Her political views are considered far-right by some, and she is an ally of former president Donald Trump, supporting his claims regarding the 2020 election and promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory. Boebert opposes green energy initiatives, COVID-19 mask and vaccine mandates, abortion, sex education, gender-affirming surgery for minors, and same-sex marriage. She advocates for an isolationist foreign policy while supporting closer ties with Israel for religious reasons. As a self-described born-again Christian, she has called for increased church influence in government and expressed skepticism about the separation of church and state.
