Jacob Daniel Auchincloss is an American politician, businessman, and Marine Corps officer serving as the United States representative for Massachusetts's 4th congressional district since 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served on the Newton City Council from 2015 to 2021. Born on January 29, 1988, Auchincloss graduated from Harvard University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree. That same year, he was commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 and to Panama in 2014. He currently holds the rank of major in the Marine Corps Reserve. After returning from military service, Auchincloss ran for and was elected to the Newton City Council in 2015. During his time in local government, he earned an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was re-elected to the city council in 2017 and 2019. In 2020, at age 32, he was elected to the United States Congress, succeeding Joe Kennedy III. His background combines military service, higher education, and local government experience, leading to his current role in national politics.
