Ian Lowe, born on 3 November 1942, is an Australian academic and writer with a focus on environmental issues. He holds a degree in physics and has served as an Emeritus Professor of Science, Technology and Society at Griffith University, where he was also the former Head of the School of Science. In addition to his academic positions, he is an adjunct professor at Sunshine Coast University and Flinders University. Lowe has an extensive publication record that includes ten books, ten Open University books, over fifty book chapters, and more than five hundred other publications. His notable works include titles such as A Big Fix, Reaction Time, Living in the Hothouse, and The Lucky Country? Reinventing Australia.
