John Richard Schneider, born on April 8, 1960, is an American actor and country music singer. He is known for his portrayal of Bo Duke in the television series The Dukes of Hazzard which aired from 1979 to 1985. Schneider also starred as Jonathan Kent, Clark Kent's adoptive father, in the television series Smallville which ran from 2001 to 2011. Additionally, he played Jim Cryer in the series The Haves and the Have Nots from 2013 to 2021. Aside from his acting, Schneider has pursued a career in country music since the early 1980s. He has released nine studio albums, a greatest hits compilation, and eighteen singles. His music includes chart-topping hits such as I’ve Been Around Enough to Know, Country Girls, What’s a Memory Like You, and You’re the Last Thing I Needed Tonight, all of which reached the top of the Billboard country singles charts. Schneider is also affiliated with the Seattle Seahawks. His multifaceted career spans acting, singing, and directing.
