Dennis Howard Marks was a Welsh individual known for his involvement in drug smuggling as well as his work as an author. He gained notoriety as an international cannabis smuggler, claiming to have transported consignments of the drug weighing as much as 30 tons. He was connected with organizations including the CIA, the IRA, MI6, and the Mafia. Marks faced legal action from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, was convicted, and received a 25-year prison sentence. He served seven years before being released in April 1995. During his criminal career, he used up to 43 aliases and was popularly known as 'Mr Nice,' a nickname derived from purchasing a passport from a convicted murderer. Following his release, he published a best-selling autobiography titled 'Mr Nice' in 1996 and became an advocate for changes in drug legislation. Though his life was marked by criminal activity, he later gained recognition for his writings and activism.
