Henry Jackson Thomas, born on September 9, 1971, is an American actor known for beginning his career as a child actor. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Elliott Taylor in the film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in 1982, for which he received a Young Artist Award and nominations for the Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award, and Saturn Award. Thomas's filmography includes roles in Cloak & Dagger, Frog Dreaming, Valmont, Fire in the Sky, Legends of the Fall, Suicide Kings, All the Pretty Horses, Gangs of New York, 11:14, and Dear John. He was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the television film Indictment: The McMartin Trial in 1997. In addition to his early work, Thomas has collaborated extensively with filmmaker Mike Flanagan, appearing in films such as Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald's Game, and Doctor Sleep. He also starred in the television series The Haunting of Hill House, which earned him a Saturn Award, and its follow-up series The Haunting of Bly Manor. More recently, Thomas played a main role in Flanagan's horror series Midnight Mass in 2021 and portrayed a member of the Usher family in The Fall of the House of Usher in 2023.
