William Gregory Steube is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Florida's 17th congressional district since 2019. His district is based in Sarasota. A member of the Republican Party, Steube previously served three terms in the Florida House of Representatives, representing the Sarasota-Manatee area from 2010 to 2016. He also served two years in the Florida Senate, representing Sarasota County and the western part of Charlotte County until 2018. Steube is known for his support of former President Donald Trump. In December 2020, he was among 126 Republican members of the House of Representatives who signed an amicus brief in support of Texas v. Pennsylvania, a lawsuit filed at the United States Supreme Court contesting the results of the 2020 presidential election.
