Andrew Scott Clyde, born November 22, 1963, is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for Georgia's 9th congressional district since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, he represents a district that includes a significant portion of exurban and rural areas northeast of Atlanta, such as Gainesville, Toccoa, Hartwell, and Dahlonega. In 2020, Clyde ran for this congressional seat and was involved in a legal action against Athens, Georgia, over its shelter-in-place restrictions related to COVID-19. As a member of Congress, he took part in the certification of the 2020 presidential election results, voting against certifying the electoral outcomes from Arizona and Pennsylvania. Clyde has made public statements regarding the events of the 2021 United States Capitol attack, describing it as "no insurrection" and comparing it to "a normal tourist visit," despite having previously helped to barricade the House chamber from the mob attempting to enter.
