Grant Murray Robertson, born on October 30, 1971, is a retired New Zealand politician affiliated with the Labour Party. He served as the Minister of Finance from 2017 to 2023 and was the member of Parliament for Wellington Central from 2008 to 2023. During his political career, Robertson held several prominent roles, including Deputy Prime Minister from 2020 to 2023 and Minister of Foreign Affairs in November 2023. He also served as Labour's finance spokesperson and was ranked third on the party list. Robertson was active during Labour's period in opposition, contesting leadership positions in 2013 and 2014, and was elected deputy leader in 2011 under leader David Shearer. As finance minister in the Sixth Labour Government, he was a key figure in managing New Zealand's economic response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the 2020 general election, Robertson became the 19th Deputy Prime Minister under Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, assuming office on November 6 and serving until his resignation on March 22, 2024. After leaving Parliament, he assumed the role of Vice-Chancellor at the University of Otago.
