Gordon James Ramsay, born on 8 November 1966, is a British celebrity chef, restaurateur, television presenter, and writer. He founded the restaurant group Gordon Ramsay Restaurants in 1997, which has been awarded a total of 17 Michelin stars and currently holds eight. His signature restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, London, has maintained three Michelin stars since 2001 and is managed by chef Matt Abé. Ramsay first gained fame with the British television miniseries Boiling Point in 1999 and has become one of the most well-known and influential chefs worldwide. His media persona is characterized by a fiery temper, strict demeanor, aggressive behavior, and frequent use of profanity, often involving insults and jokes about contestants' cooking skills. Ramsay has hosted numerous cookery television programmes, including the British series Hell's Kitchen, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, and The F Word. The American versions of Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, along with MasterChef and MasterChef Junior, as well as Hotel Hell, Gordon Behind Bars, Gordon Ramsay's 24 Hours to Hell and Back, and Next Level Chef, have contributed to his international recognition. In addition to his media work, Ramsay was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2006 for his services to the hospitality industry.
