Geoff Downes: podcast appearances and interviews

Geoffrey Downes, born on August 25, 1952, in Stockport, England, is a keyboardist known for his work with several prominent bands. He gained early fame as a member of the new wave group the Buggles, which he formed with Trevor Horn. The band achieved international success with their debut album The Age of Plastic and the hit single Video Killed the Radio Star. Downes also contributed to the progressive rock band Yes, joining in May 1980 alongside Horn and recording the album Drama. Following Yes disbandment in 1981, he collaborated with Horn on a second Buggles album and co-founded the supergroup Asia with Steve Howe. Downes left Asia in 1986 but rejoined the band in 1990 and has remained a part of its lineup since then. He has also recorded solo albums and worked as a producer for artists including Mike Oldfield and the Thompson Twins. In 2006, he reunited the original lineup of Asia and returned to Yes in 2011. His musical career includes multiple reunions with Horn for performances of Buggles songs since 1998. Notably, Downes entered the Guinness Book of Records for performing with a record 28 keyboards on stage during a single concert.
