Carmine Appice, born on December 15, 1946, is an American rock drummer known for his work with various bands including Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, and Beck, Bogert & Appice. He has also collaborated with notable artists such as Rod Stewart, King Kobra, and Blue Murder. In addition to his drumming career, Appice is recognized as a bass player. He is the older brother of Vinny Appice. Appice's contributions to drumming education include his best-selling instructional book The Realistic Rock Drum Method, first published in 1972 and later revised under the title The Ultimate Realistic Rock Drum Method. The book covers fundamental topics such as rock rhythms, polyrhythms, linear rudiments and groupings, shuffle rhythms, and exercises for hi-hat and double bass drumming. His influence extends to renowned drummers like John Bonham, Roger Taylor, Tommy Lee, Ian Paice, and Eric Singer, who have credited him with impacting their drumming styles. Appice's contributions to rock music have been recognized with inductions into the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2014.
