Eugene Victor Hoglan II, born on August 31, 1967, is an American drummer recognized for his work with thrash metal bands including Dark Angel and Testament. He is known for his creative approach to drum arrangements, incorporating abstract percussion effects and his signature lengthy double-kick drum rhythms. His playing style is highly technically demanding yet maintains high accuracy at extreme tempos, earning him the nicknames The Atomic Clock and Human Drum Machine. Hoglan established his reputation as the drummer of Dark Angel in the 1980s and expanded his career in the early 1990s after the band disbanded, playing for a variety of notable bands and projects. He has performed with bands such as Death, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, and Dethklok, and has been involved in several side projects. Hoglan has also released a DVD titled Gene Hoglan The Atomic Clock and served as Testament's longest-serving drummer.
