Max Cavalera, born on August 4, 1969, is a Brazilian musician known for his contributions to the heavy metal genre. He co-founded the band Sepultura in 1984 with his brother Igor Cavalera; he served as the band's lead singer and rhythm guitarist until 1997. After leaving Sepultura, Cavalera continued his musical career by playing in several other bands including Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, Nailbomb, Killer Be Killed, and Go Ahead and Die. His work has been influential within the heavy metal community and he has maintained a prominent presence in the genre since the 1980s.
