Gary Stevenson: podcast appearances and interviews

Gary Walter Stevenson, born in 1986, is a British YouTuber, educator, and author known for his economic commentary and activism against economic inequality. He studied economics and mathematics at the London School of Economics before beginning a career as a financial trader at Citibank in 2008 at the age of 21. During his time at Citibank, Stevenson became known for his trading activities and financial success, which he claims made him Citibank’s most profitable trader globally in 2011, although this has been disputed by former colleagues. After achieving significant financial gains, he retired from trading in 2014 to pursue an MPhil in economics at the University of Oxford. In 2020, Stevenson launched a YouTube channel called GarysEconomics, where he educates the public about economic concepts and campaigns against economic inequality. He has contributed to policy debates on inequality in Britain through various media outlets, including The Guardian, BBC, LBC, Novara Media, and Piers Morgan Uncensored. In 2024, Penguin Books published his memoir titled The Trading Game, which recounts his experiences working in the finance industry.
