Andrew Brion Hogan Goddard, born on February 26, 1975, is an American filmmaker known primarily for his work in the horror genre. He began his career as a writer contributing to television series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Alias, and Lost. Transitioning to film screenwriting, Goddard authored scripts for movies including Cloverfield in 2008, World War Z in 2013, and two adaptations of Andy Weir's novels, The Martian in 2015 and Project Hail Mary scheduled for 2026. His screenplay for The Martian earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. In addition to screenwriting, Goddard directed the films The Cabin in the Woods in 2011 and Bad Times at the El Royale in 2018. He also created the Netflix series Daredevil, which aired from 2015 to 2018, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His other television work includes directing episodes of The Good Place. Goddard has served as an executive producer on several projects, including the films 10 Cloverfield Lane in 2016 and The Cloverfield Paradox in 2018, both of which are part of the Cloverfield franchise.
