Douglas Kear Murray, born on 16 July 1979, is a British conservative political commentator, cultural critic, author, and journalist. He serves as an associate editor of the conservative British magazine The Spectator and has contributed to various publications including The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sun, the Daily Mail, New York Post, National Review, The Free Press, and UnHerd. Murray has authored several books, among them On Democracies and Death Cults: Israel, Hamas and the Future of the West, published in 2025. His previous works include Neoconservatism: Why We Need It, The Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity, Islam, The Madness of Crowds: Gender, Race and Identity, and The War on the West. From 2011 to 2018, he was the associate director of the Henry Jackson Society, a conservative think tank. Murray has been a prominent critic of current immigration policies in Europe and of Islam, and gained international recognition for his advocacy for Israel following the October 7 attacks in 2023. His viewpoints have been praised by conservatives but also criticized by others; some academic articles associate his perspectives with Islamophobia and accuse him of promoting far-right ideas, including conspiracy theories such as Eurabia, the Great Replacement, and Cultural Marxism.
