Delroy George Lindo is a British-born American actor born on November 18, 1952. He began his career on stage in 1975 with a production of Of Mice and Men. He received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in Joe Turner's Come and Gone in 1988. Lindo is known for his work in several films directed by Spike Lee, including Malcolm X where he played West Indian Archie, Crooklyn in which he portrayed Woody Carmichael, and Clockers where he starred as Rodney Little. His acting has earned him recognition across film, television, and theater. In recent years, he gained widespread acknowledgment for his role as Paul, a Vietnam War veteran, in the film Da 5 Bloods, for which he received both the New York Film Critics Circle Award and the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actor in 2020. Lindo was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Delta Slim in Ryan Coogler's horror film Sinners, released in 2025. His diverse filmography includes roles in Get Shorty, The Cider House Rules, Gone in 60 Seconds, Romeo Must Die, This Christmas, and The Harder They Fall. On television, he has portrayed figures such as Matthew Henson and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and has starred in series including The Chicago Code, Believe, and The Good Fight.
