David Walliams: podcast appearances and interviews

David Walliams, born David Edward Williams on August 20, 1971, is an English actor, comedian, writer, and television personality. He gained prominence through his collaboration with Matt Lucas on the BBC sketch comedy series Little Britain, which aired from 2003 to 2006, and Come Fly with Me, from 2010 to 2011. Walliams served as a judge on the television talent competition Britain's Got Talent from 2012 to 2022 and has received multiple National Television Awards for his work on the show. In addition to his television career, he is a successful author of children's books, having sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. His books, which have been translated into 53 languages, have contributed to his reputation as one of the fastest-growing children's authors in the UK, with a literary style often compared to that of Roald Dahl. Walliams began writing children's novels in 2008 after securing a contract with HarperCollins; several of his works have been adapted for television, where he has also made appearances. He has also written and starred in the BBC sitcom Big School and appeared in other series such as Partners in Crime and Walliams & Friend. He has undertaken notable charity work, including swimming across the English Channel, Strait of Gibraltar, and River Thames to raise funds for Sport Relief. In recognition of his services to charity and the arts, he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2017. In 2025, HarperCollins ended its publishing contract with Walliams following an internal investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour and harassment towards junior female staff.
