Dave Karger: podcast appearances and interviews

Dave Karger, born on April 4, 1973, is an American author, entertainment journalist, and television host known for his work with Turner Classic Movies (TCM). He has received the 2015 Publicists Guild Press Award and has been described by TheWrap as this generation's mass-media cinematic ambassador. Karger is a graduate of Duke University and began his career as an entertainment journalist for Entertainment Weekly, where he interviewed celebrities, wrote news stories, and covered the Academy Awards. In 2012, he transitioned to Fandango Media as a correspondent, hosting online series such as Weekend Ticket and The Frontrunners. Karger also served as a red carpet greeter for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Oscar night, a role previously held by notable figures such as Army Archerd and Robert Osborne. He co-hosted a primetime lineup of Best Picture-winning films with Osborne in 2007, and in 2016, he served as a guest host when Osborne became ill. Karger was hired as a full-time host at TCM in 2018, where he currently hosts the Musical Matinee programming block on Saturday afternoons. In 2024, he published his debut non-fiction book titled 50 Oscar Nights.
