Daryl Franklin Hohl, born on October 11, 1946, is an American rock and soul singer-songwriter better known as Daryl Hall. He is the co-founder and principal lead vocalist of Hall & Oates, a musical duo formed with guitarist and songwriter John Oates. Outside of the group, Hall has released six solo albums, including Sacred Songs in 1980, a collaboration with progressive rock guitarist Robert Fripp. His 1986 album Three Hearts in the Happy Ending Machine features the hit single Dreamtime, which reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Hall has collaborated with numerous artists, contributing to works such as Fripp's Exposure and Dusty Springfield's 1995 album A Very Fine Love. He achieved commercial success with hits charting on Billboard during the 1970s and early 1980s and is regarded as one of the best soul singers of his generation. Fripp has praised Hall's vocal ability, describing his singing as a wonder. Hall was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. Since late 2007, he has hosted the streaming television series Live from Daryl's House, where he performs alongside other artists and features a mix of songs from each performer’s catalog. The show has been rebroadcast on various channels, with a new season beginning on Hall’s YouTube channel on November 1, 2023, featuring artists including Glenn Tilbrook, Charlie Starr, Robert Fripp, Lisa Loeb, and Howard Jones.
