Darren Shaw: podcast appearances and interviews

Darren Shaw, born on 5 October 1971, is a former rugby league footballer and coach who has been affiliated with Whitespark. As a player, he competed at the international level for Scotland and played for several clubs in England and Australia, including the Brisbane Broncos, London Broncos, Sheffield Eagles, Castleford Tigers, Salford City Reds, Oldham RLFC, and Rochdale Hornets. Shaw played as a second-row and was part of Sheffield Eagles' victory over Wigan in the 1998 Challenge Cup Final held at Wembley Stadium. Transitioning into coaching, Shaw served as an assistant coach at Rochdale Hornets under Bobbie Goulding before taking on a head coaching role at Leigh in 2006. His appointment followed the departure of Tony Benson after a playoff defeat. It was found that Shaw lacked the necessary coaching qualifications for National Leagues team management, leading to his appointment as Football Manager with Paul Rowley as First Team coach. During his first season in charge, Leigh was defeated in the playoffs by Whitehaven. The 2007 season was characterized by inconsistency and injury-related challenges, resulting in the debut of over 20 players. Despite these obstacles, Shaw was retained for the 2008 season but resigned early in the year following a series of defeats. In May 2008, he was appointed head coach of Rochdale Hornets.
