Cleta B. Deatherage Mitchell, born on September 16, 1950, is an American lawyer, former politician, and Republican elections activist. She was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1976, where she served until 1984 representing District 44 as a member of the Democratic Party. In 1996, she registered as a Republican and has since worked as a lawyer and activist focused on election issues. Mitchell has expressed the view that Democrats win elections through cheating, a claim she asserts without evidence. Following the 2020 presidential election, which Democratic candidate Joe Biden won, Mitchell assisted Donald Trump in efforts to overturn the election results. She was involved in a telephone call in which Trump pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to alter election outcomes. Subsequently, she resigned from her position as a partner at Foley & Lardner. In 2021, Mitchell established an escrow fund to support companies conducting a pro-Trump audit of Arizona's 2020 election results. She has also advocated for changes to election laws in Georgia, aiming to delay reporting and certification of election results.
